Petersburg


Saint Petersburg (Санкт-Петербург, in Russian) in western Russia is one of the major tourist destinations in the country and Europe, with several million annual visitors. The ancient imperial capital was once called Petrograd (1914) and Leningrad (1924); it is now popularly known as Petersburg. Second most important city in the country, Saint Petersburg is located 715 km northwest of the capital, Moscow, the metropolis of the Federation. The visit of Saint Petersburg is already traditional for those who come to Moscow: just take the modern train that leaves from Leningradski vokzal station in Moscow, and in just over three hours you will reach Saint Petersburg. And just a few minutes away, you can be dazzled by its beautiful Historic Center, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.


Hermitage

History, arts, gastronomy and entertainment are ensured in Saint Petersburg, whose main museum, the Hermitage, is one of the most famous in the world. River Neva

Former imperial capital of Tsarist Russia, it is bathed by the River Neva - at the entrance to the Gulf of Finland, in the Baltic Sea - and many bridges, it is called Venice of the North.
